Queens County Seafest Photo Contest Winners!

Our first Queens County Seafest Photo Contest is over. There were a lot of great entries and it was very difficult choosing the three winning images. We hope to make the contest an annual event at Seafest, so sharpen up your photography skills over the next several months and get ready for Seafest 2012. If your name is among the winning entries please don’t forget to email us your full mailing address so we can send off your prize.

‘Lawrencetown Sunset’ was taken by Adam Cornick and is our 1st Place Winning Photo. Adam wins the hardy day pack from Parlee Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in Liverpool. The photo was taken in August, 2010 at Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia. According to Adam, “It was during one of the summer hurricane swells that provided such fun surf conditions for the local surfers.” Adam used a Canon 30D camera and a Sigma 10-20mm lens.

‘A Winter Storm Rolls By’ was taken by Paula Fredericks. This stunning shot is our 2nd Place Winning Photo. The photo was taken in the St. Margaret’s Bay area on January 8, 2011 with a Canon SX210 IS camera. Paula wins The NS Backroad Mapbook Outdoor Recreation Guide (and donated by Outdoor Nova Scotia).

Maureen Crocker shot this great image one afternoon in Queens County; it is our 3rd Place Winning Photo. According to Maureen, “I captured the unusual patterns of black sand left on the beach by the tide, mimicking seaweed. I had never seen anything quite like this before !!!” Maureen wins the popular Nova Scotia book, ‘Sidney Crosby: The Story of a Champion’ by Paul Holingsworth (and donated by Outdoor Nova Scotia).

This photo of the ‘Land of Laziness Lake’ near Stillwater, Nova Scotia received Honourable Mention in our contest. Cheryl describes her photo as “Autumn a season of color, change and peace.” Cheryl used a Canon Power Shot A400.

This great image of two gulls by Heather Decker received Honourable Mention in our contest. The photo was taken on Shore Road, Brooklyn, Nova Scotia, just a short distance from the Brookyln Marina and Queens County Seafest.

    What an excellent group of photos, sure glad I did not have to judge the winner! What talented people we have! And of course fabulous scenery all over our province, but eapecially in Queens County!!
